Another Impressive Winner for Stratum

 In 2012

Ballarat – Stratum is fast closing in on his 50th winner for the season adding another smart three year-old winner to his tally at Ballarat on Thursday.

The Gary Portelli trained Kochamma dominated her rivals in the 1000 metre maiden, travelling well throughout from barrier two before surging away to win by nearly three lengths at just her second start.

Kochamma was a $45,000 Inglis Premier purchase from the draft of Widden Stud and is the first winner for well-bred import San Lorenzo (UAE), a Machiavellian mare from the family of Group I winners Ballingarry, Starborough, Aristotle and St Nicholas Abbey, who will seek back to back Breeders Cup Turf wins this weekend.

San Lorenzo has a yearling colt by Nicconi and was covered by the same sire again last spring.

Kochamma is the 48th Australian winner this season for Stratum, who is second only to Lonhro on the score of individual winners.
