Canterbury Winners for Sebring and Stratum

 In 2014

Magic Millions winning trainer Bjorn Baker was in the winner’s circle at Canterbury on Wednesday with improving Sebring three year-old Coolring.

The dashing grey cast off maiden status when downing the hot favourite Pera Pera in the 1250 metre maiden to win by a neck at his fourth start.

Placed twice second from his previous three runs, Coolring was overdue for the win.

Passed in at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, Coolring was retained to race and is the second foal of former brilliant sprinter Coolroom Candidate, who won nine races with prizemoney topping $447,000 and highlight wins in the Group II AJC Sapphire Stakes and Group III STC Research stakes.

Stratum later chimed in with a smart winner in Straturbo, who won the Benchmark 70 event over 1100 metres by half a length for the Gary Portelli stable.

A full brother to Group III winner I’m All The Talk, Straturbo was a $45,000 Magic Millions National Sale purchase from the draft of Widden Stud for Elite Thoroughbreds and has won nearly $100,000 in prizemoney.
