Impressive Win for Tawteen

 In 2014

The biggest buyer at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale last year was Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid al Maktoum’s Shadwell Australia, which outlaid $8,2 million on 21 yearlings, one of which bolted in at Sandown on Wednesday.

The youngsters were split between David Hayes in Australia and Mike de Kock in South Africa, with Hayes producing Stratum filly Tawteen for a highly impressive win.

Having her second run following an encouraging fifth in the Listed MRC Blue Diamond Preview, Tawteen jumped out of the ground to win the 900 metre scamper by four and a half lengths as a well backed favourite

Tawteen was a $260,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the Widden Stud draft and is the second winner for US Group III winner Sprung (USA), a half-sister by Grand Slam to Group I winner Tali’sluckybusride.

The third foal from Sprung, a yearling colt by Star Witness will be offered by Widden Stud as Lot 222 at the 2014 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.
