More of the Same

 In 2014

This time last year it was our young gun sires Sebring and Northern Meteor battling to the wire to be crowned Champion Australian First Season Sire and this year we’ve seen more of the same with another close contest, but with a reverse in the order with Sebring taking the title of Champion Australian Second Season Sire, a whisker ahead of Northern Meteor.

Sebring has closed out the season with progeny earnings topping $6.6 million, his impressive list of nine stakes-winners headed by Group I stars Criterion (ATC Australian Derby, Rosehill Guineas) and Dissident (ATC Australian Guineas) as well as brilliant two year-old Group winners such as Bring Me The Maid, Believe Yourself and the ill-fated Clifton Red.

Northern Meteor sired the winners of $5.9 million, his list of eight stakes-winners headed by Group I winners Zoustar and Cosmic Endeavour as well as two year-old stakes-winners Fighting Sun, Veuvelicious and Sports Edition.

While Sebring is preparing to cover his best ever book of mares at a fee of $60,500, Northern Meteor sadly is no longer with us, however in securing his best son in dual Group I winning sprinter Zoustar, we are confident we can offer breeders the next best thing.
