Northern Meteor Leading Premier Sire

 In 2014

A buoyant Inglis Premier Yearling Sale featured a strong showing from ill-fated Northern Meteor, who finished as the leading sire by average with five youngsters averaging $198,000.

He provided the top lot when his colt from Group II winner Conquistar fetched $450,000 for Phoenix Broodmare Farm when secured by Sun Kingdom/ Gai Waterhouse and James Harron Bloodstock.

Sun Kingdom also secured his second highest priced offering, a colt from Morwell for $220,000.

Star Witness scored his major wins in Victoria claiming the Group I MRC Blue Diamond Stakes and VRC Coolmore Stud Stakes, so it was no real surprise to see him make a big splash with a colt from Crystal Whip fetching $400,000 for Ascot Farm.

Star Witness had nine yearlings average $81,389.

Golden Slipper winners Stratum and Sebring also made their mark at Premier, Stratum achieving his best result with a filly from Familial that made $160,000 to the bid of Boomer Bloodstock and Sebring scoring a hit with a filly from Tantalized that made $165,000 when secured by John Hymet.
