Stratum Sprinter Sizzles

 In 2012

Newcastle – Five year-old Stratum gelding Social Rank sizzled in the $45,600 Hurricane Stakes at Newcastle on Wednesday, running his rivals ragged to win the 900 metre dash by more than a length.

Trained on the track by Paul Perry, Social Rank was having second run back from a spell and looks set for another great campaign.

A $90,000 Magic Millions purchase for his trainer from the Southern Cross Breeders draft, Social Rank has the overall record of seven wins from 19 starts with prizemoney in excess of $150,000.

Social Rank was foaled and raised at Riversdale Farm for his breeder Catherine Remond and is a three-quarter brother to Macau based stakes-winner Speedy Leo.

He is the first foal for unraced Snippets mare Leonina, a daughter of stakes-placed Frisky Lady from the family of Group III winners Graceful Anna and News Alert going back to Golden Slipper winner Star Watch.

Leonina has a yearling colt by Nicconi.

Social Rank is one of 17 winners since the start of the month for Stratum, who is in red hot form.
