WA Rising Star for Nicconi

WA owner/breeders Bob and Sandra Peters have enjoyed phenomenal success with their homebred horses in recent years and look to have another star on the rise in the shape of Nicconi three year-old State Solicitor.

The Grant Williams trained gelding made it three wins in a row when bolting clear to win over 1300 metres by five lengths at Belmont on Saturday as a very short priced favourite.

Fourth at his first race start in September last year, State Solicitor has been a different horse this preparation winning his first two runs back by a combined total of six and a half lengths before upping the ante with this dazzling display.

State Solicitor settled back in the field, but when asked for an effort was in a class of his own.

A half-brother to Group II WA Derby winner Respondent, State Solicitor is one of five winners from Group II winning Metal Storm (Fr) mare Avenida Madero.

His sire Nicconi is having a very productive season in posting an impressive 56% winners to runners with 90 winners accumulating over $3. 5 million in prizemoney highlighted by stakes-winners Faatinah, Concealer, Ayers Rock and Exclusive Lass.

The quiet achiever on the Widden Stud roster, Nicconi stands at a fee of $11,000.
