Prepared by Mick Price, three year-old Fastnet Rock filly Samoon strode clear to win the 1400 metre maiden at Pakenham on Thursday by more than a length at her third start. She led all the way and will take benefit from the run.

A $600,000 Inglis Easter purchase from the Widden Stud draft for Bruce Perry Bloodstock, Samoon runs for Trelawney Stud and will be a valuable addition to their broodmare band one day as she is a half-sister to Group I MRC Oakleigh Plate winner Shamal Wind and stakes-placed Sebfire.

Her dam Firemaid (USA) comes from an elite European family and is a half-sister to the grand-dam of last year’s high class two year-old colt Ten Sovereigns, winner of the Group I Newmarket Middle Park Stakes.

Firemaid has not had a foal since Samoon, but was covered late last year by Sebring.
