Widden Stud’s flagship sire Zoustar had the top lot at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale earlier this week when Sunlight sold for $4.2million and he started the weanling sale on a high note on Thursday when his colt from Miss Husson sold for $410,000.

The highest priced horse sold in the opening session, the star colt was consigned by Rothwell Park Thoroughbreds and bought by Segenhoe Stud.

“I saw him at Rothwell about two months ago and I loved him then and he’s just improved from then on,” a delighted Peter O’Brien of Segenhoe Stud.

“We had a meeting about him this morning speaking to Kevin Maloney and I said, ‘he’s the one for me for the sale’ and you’ve got to buy the one you want.

“He’s a beautiful horse by a stallion we love and we’ll bring him back here next year and hopefully double it.

“He’s all there now – he’s a very mature horse and very correct. He comes from a great farm. Scotty (Irwin) does a great job and we’re delighted to get him back to our farm.”

He is the second foal of Group III placed Hussonet (USA) mare Miss Husson, who comes from the family of Group I winners Outback Prince and Hotel Grand.

Also selling well from the same draft was the Zoustar filly from Miss Dinah Lee that was snapped up by Belmont Bloodstock Agency for $120,000.
