Metro Double for Zousain
Widden Stud’s exciting young sire Zousain made it a two state metro double on Wednesday with Amelita scoring at Canterbury and shortly after that he sired Bollinger Miss to win at Doomben.
Trained by Chris and Corey Munce, Bollinger Miss was fourth on debut back in May at her only other starts and has come back in good order to stalk the leader and power clear to win the 110m maiden by the best part of a length.

Bollinger Miss was a $150,000 Magic Millions purchase from Widden Stud for The Racing League /Munce Racing/Arthur Hoyeau and runs for a syndicate that includes The Racing League’s Queensland Rogues, so had plenty of owners to cheer her home.
She is the second winner from Fancy Liquor, a placed half-sister by Not a Single Doubt to stakes-winner Office Bearer.
Fancy Liquor has a yearling filly by Portland Sky and has foaled this spring producing a colt by Written By.
Talented filly Amelita put the writing on the wall with her good recent trial form and she took it to race day to win at her first run back from a spell.
Trained by Chris Waller and ridden by James McDonald, Amelita was last seen finishing fifth to boom filly Clean Energy on a very heavy track back in May and appreciated a return to firm footing.
She led all the way and kicked clear to win the 1100m maiden by nearly two lengths at her third start.

“She had a beautiful run in transit and proved too good today,” said stable representative Charlie Duckworth.
“In time she’ll be better ridden with cover so she can harness her energy a bit better than she did today. There is plenty more to come, but the main thing is she has talent, so we will work out the rest.”
A $280,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Edinglassie Stud draft for Magic Bloodstock/Noel & Maria Greenhalgh/Julia Ritchie/Neil Werrett, Amelita is the first winner for Miss Amelia, a winning More Than Ready (USA) mare from Group II ATC Silver Slipper winner Amelia’s Dream.
Amelita has a full brother that was sold at Magic Millions this year for $200,000 to John O’Shea Racing/James Bester Bloodstock and she has another filly to follow by Zousain and was covered by him again last spring.
Amelita and Bollinger Miss bring Zousain up to eight winners for the season and he leads the second crop sires table by winners.
A gorgeous looking son of Zoustar, Zousain has earned an increase in fee and stands at $27,500 this spring. He will cover another big book of mares after servicing 762 in his first four seasons.
