Trapeze Artist Sprinter Lands $300,000 Country Discovery
At Ballarat on Good Friday, the feature event on the card was the $300,000 Country Discovery and four year-old Trapeze Artist sprinter Spywire added another lucrative win to his tally.
Trained by Ciaron Maher, Spywire was dropping back in class after a last start seventh in the Group I MRC Oakleigh Plate and found conditions to suit with a positive ride from Ethan Brown, who won the $1million Magic Millions The Syndicate on the gelding back in January.
Spywire led from the jump and kept up a strong gallop to the line to win by a length and a half over the race favourite Geegee’s Mistruth.

“He was here in the best possible order today and he showed that on track,” Brown said.
“Never felt like losing, he jumped so well from the gate, he can be a bit tardy away, but when he’s fresh and on like that, he’s at his best.
“Once we got an uncontested lead it was simple, just had to get him into a rhythm.”
Spywire was a $520,000 Magic Millions purchase from Widden Stud for Ciaron Maher Bloodstock/Group 1 Bloodstock and has the overall record of six wins and six placings from 19 starts and prizemoney in excess of $1.6million.
Spywire was bred by Widden in partnership with Robert Anderson and is the best of three winners from four foals to race from stakes-winning Denman mare Secret Trail, whose yearling colt by Anamoe sold for $1.1million at Magic Millions this year to the bid of Ciaron Maher Bloodstock.
Secret Trail was covered last spring by Zoustar.
