The Inglis HTBA Yearling Sale is on this Sunday at Riverside Stables and a filly by Portland Sky bought from this sale last year for $20,000 made a stylish winning debut at Hawkesbury on Tuesday for the Richard and Will Freedman stable.

Home Affairs colt Barracks was a short priced favourite for the 1000m juvenile maiden and the Ciaron Maher trained youngster looked set for victory until Portland Miss weaved between runners to lay down a challenge.

She hit the line hard for Chad Schofield to catch the colt and win by half  a length.

Portland Miss was bred and offered for sale by Dr Richard McLenahan of Mullaglass Stud and was snapped up by Tricolours Racing so has a big team of happy owners tonight.

Portland Miss is the second winner from three foals to race from Smart Missile mare Shimmering Light, a grand-daughter of Champion 2YO and 3YO Filly Miss Finland.

Mullaglass Stud sold a Hellbent yearling colt from Shimmering Light at Inglis Classic this year for $170,000 to Blake Ryan Racing and after missing in 2024 to Jacquinot she is now in foal to Zoustar’s G1 winning son Schwarz.

Portland Miss is the second winner for Widden Stud’s young Deep Field stallion Portland Sky, who won the Group I MRC Oakleigh Plate and has three entries for the Inglis HTBA Yearling Sale this Sunday.
