Widden Graduate First Aussie Winner for Gun Runner

One of the three most expensive sires in North America that stands at Three Chimneys at a fee of US$250,000, Gun Runner has had just one runner in Australia and that is the Widden Stud raised and sold colt Genesis Runner.

Trained by Richard and Will Freedman, Genesis Runner was sent to Newcastle on Saturday for his second start in a 1300m maiden and was sent off as favourite.

Fourth on debut at the same the same track earlier this month, Genesis Runner took benefit from that outing and duly cruised clear to win by more than two lengths with Lee Magorrian in the saddle.

 

 

A $575,000 Inglis Easter purchase from Widden Stud for Yulong. Genesis Runner is the second foal and first winner for stakes-placed Artie Schiller mare Originator (USA), a half-sister to the dam of Group II winner Fluffy Socks from stakes-winner Costume Designer.

Originator has a yearling colt by Zoustar that passed in at Magic Millions this year and is due to foal again to Zoustar this spring.
