Another South African Win for Star Witness Filly

A talented daughter of Star Witness, classy Aussie bred juvenile Mella Maria saluted at Greyville in South Africa on Friday.

Prepared by Mike Azzie, stakes-placed Mella Maria scored her second win when taking the 1300 metre contest by a length.

Bred by Widden Stud in partnership, Mella Maria is the first foal of Group II placed Keep the Faith mare Sayahailmary.

Widden Stud sold the current yearling from Sayahailmary, a colt by Sebring at the 2015 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale for $650,000 to China Horse Club / Michael Wallace Bloodstock.

Sayahailmary also has a weanling filly by Stratum and was covered by Sebring again last spring.
