Juvenile Double for Stratum
Golden Slipper winner Stratum started the day on a bright note with two year-old colt Ragazzo Del Corsa scoring at Flemington and quickly made it a two state metro double when the Gai Waterhouse trained Flamboyant Lass saluted at Randwick.
Placed at her only start in the spring at Randwick, Flamboyant Lass tuned up with a recent barrier trial win and ran up to that effort in cruising clear to win the 1000 metre dash by more than three lengths in a brisk 57.03 seconds.
She was a short priced favourite, led throughout and could not have been more impressive.
Flamboyant Lass was a $190,000 Magic Millions purchase for Gai Waterhouse/James Harron Bloodstock from the Highgrove Stud draft and is the first winner for Flamboyance, a half-sister by Snowland to Group III winner Pasikatera from the family of Group I winner Tempest Morn.
Highgrove Stud will offer a full brother to Flamboyant Lass at Inglis Easter 2015 and Flamboyance is back in foal to Stratum.
Bought by Danny O’Brien for $220,000 from the Rangal Park draft at the Magic Millions Yearling Sale last year, two year-old Stratum colt Ragazzo Del Corsa was a no-show at the Gold Coast on Saturday, but looked above average when powering clear to win as he pleased at Flemington.
Third on debut behind highly rated filly Secret Agenda at Moonee Valley last month, Ragazzo Del Corsa improved sharply at his second start to travel on the pace and accelerate away to win the 1000 metre scamper by two lengths.
Bred in Victoria at Rangal Park, so eligible for all the terrific VOBIS bonuses, he is the second winner for stakes-winner Jacqueline Rouge, a daughter of Group III winner Northeast Sheila.
