Spring Star for Sebring
The now familiar dark green and gold epaulettes of James Harron Bloodstock were carried to victory at Rosehill on Wednesday by impressive Sebring colt Acatour, a $160,000 Magic Millions purchase from the draft of Widden Stud.
A leggy chestnut with a prominent white blaze, Acatour made it three wins from four starts when he powered home from back in the field to win running away for Blake Shinn.
He thumped the older horses to win the 1500 metre contest by three lengths in an eye catching display.
Prepared by Peter and Paul Snowden, Acatour has bigger fish to fry this spring and is entered for the $500,000 Group III MRC Caulfield Classic next month.
“That was very impressive,” said Paul Snowden.
“Nothing went to plan, so full credit to the horse, it was a big win.
“How deep we get into the spring, time will tell.”
Acatour is the first winner for Adonia Queen (USA), an unraced half-sister to stakes-winner Awesome Ashley and daughter of dual Group I winner Queens Court Queen.
