Saturday Success for Last Witness
Progressive Star Witness three year-old Last Witness produced the best win of his career at Canterbury on Saturday when zooming home to win by a length.
Prepared by Paul Perry, Last Witness looked good last start winning at Wyong, but was taking on a tougher task here in Benchmark 78 company over 1100 metres against older rivals.
Sent out favourite, he justified punters support in scoring a stylish win with Tim Clark in the saddle.
“We were a fair way off them early, but they went quick enough and started to come back to us on the turn,” Clark said.
“He really attacked the line.”
A modest $30,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Attunga Stud draft for his trainer, Last Witness has won five races and placed five times from 16 starts earning over $176,000 in prizemoney.
Last Witness is from stakes-placed Honours List (IRE) mare Cruisy Lady and is one of 45 winners this season for Widden Stud’s Star Witness, who is the leading second crop sire by winners.
