Star Winner for Waugh
Widden Stud’s top class young sire Star Witness is hitting the line hard as we come to the end of the season, posting an impressive maiden winner at Wyong on Tuesday trained by the home town favourite Kim Waugh.
Three year-old gelding Bao Zheng made a lie of his unplaced debut at Scone on July 15, bolting away to win the 1350 metre maiden by a widening three and a quarter lengths.
He settled off the pace for Tye Angland, but stormed around the field to hit the front just after turning for home and powered away to win as he pleased.
A $40,000 Inglis Classic purchase for his trainer from the Widden Stud draft, Bao Zheng is a big horse that has been given time to mature and looks ready now to progress.
Bao Zheng is the third winner for Legal Thrills, a half-sister to the dams of Group I winner All Thrills Too and Group winners Adaline and Gotta Have Heart.
Bao Zheng is the 46th winner this season for Star Witness, who is the leading Australian second crop sire by winners.
