Zoustar Weanlings Star at Magic Millions

The progeny of dual Group I winner Zoustar were in hot demand at the Magic Millions National Weanling Sale earlier this week with eight youngsters averaging $118,938 and highlight colts selling for $250,000 apiece, the best individual results of any freshman sire at the sale.

Consigned for sale by Bell View Park, the three-quarter brother to Group I placed Equator, a colt from Sun Maid, was snapped up by James Bester Bloodstock, while the Kambula Stud consigned colt from Armanjena was purchased by Amarina Farm and Damion Flower.

“I thought he was one of the nicer colts in the sale,” Bester said of the colt from Sun Maid.

“We will re-offer the horse. When you’re buying blue chip they stay blue chip. He’s a nice horse who can come back here and hopefully make $400,000 or $500,000.”

The colt from Armanjena is also likely to be re-offered for sale next year.

“I just thought he was one of the nicest movers here, if not the best Zoustar here. We will just take him home, work him out and just see how he goes and let Craig (Anderson from Amarina Farm) run through his regime with him and go from there,” Flower told ANZ Bloodstock News.

Cox Plate and Australian Guineas winner Shamus Award also posted good results with a colt from Pride of Encosta selling for $80,000 to Prima Park and a filly from Joontoo Gemini fetching $62,500 when secured by Cameron Cooke Bloodstock.
