Widden Sires Quinella Group Three
Sebring youngster Broadband became her sire’s 28th stakes-winner with an emphatic maiden win in the Group III SAJC Breeders Stakes in Adelaide on Saturday defeating talented Nicconi filly Time Awaits.
Trained by Phillip Stokes , the filly has obviously always shown potential having been sent straight into Group III company when unplaced on debut in the Listed VRC Ottawa Stakes at Flemington over the spring before resuming last start with a solid third in the Listed SAJC DequettevilleStakes.
She’d been ridden on pace in those two efforts but was sent to the front for this run and accelerated impressively off the bend to score a dominant win by just short of four lengths.
A homebred for her owner Peter Horwitz, Broadband is out of blue-blooded Redoute’s Choice mare Electric Dreams, who made $600,000 as a yearling prior to an above average career which netted three Sydney wins and a fourth in the Listed ATC Sheraco Stakes behind the great champion More Joyous.
Electric Dreams is out of Volted In, a half-sister to Group I winners Anamato and Drum, Listed winner Port Watch and stakes placed Tambour, the dam of the multiple Group I winner Grand Armee.
