Hong Kong Hat-Trick for Real Dragon
Hong Kong – Stratum has been churning out the winners in recent weeks and not just in Australia, with his five year-old son Real Dragon posting his third consecutive victory at Happy Valley in Hong Kong last night.
The Tony Cruz trained gelding has really hit his straps this preparation and has won his last three starts at Happy Valley over 1650 metres, his win last night coming in the shape of a dominant display as he charged clear to win by nearly three lengths.
A modest $25,000 purchase from the Little Avondale draft at the 2009 NZB Festival Yearling Sale, Real Dragon was re-offered through the 2009 NZB Ready to Run Sale where he fetched $90,000 and has won four races in total and placed a further eight times from 29 starts.
He is the only winner from Eagle Eyed (USA) mare Maranello Miss, who comes from the family of Australian stakes-winner Lady’s Slipper.
Stratum is the sire of 51 Australian winners of $1.8 million in prizemoney this season led by stakes-winners Streama, Texan and Unpretentious.
