Canterbury Winners for Snippetson and Stratum
Sydney – Snippetson and Stratum struck early at the Canterbury night meeting last Friday with wins for Texan Lad and Hunter Jack.
Trained at Scone by Luke Griffith, three year-old gelding Texan Lad brought some good country form to town win the 1100 metre dash by a neck over Stratum gelding Straturbo.
An $11,000 purchase for his trainer from the Tareena Bloodstock draft at the 2011 Inglis Scone Yearling Sale, Texan Lad has won five from 11 starts and more than $96,000 in prizemoney.
He is one of four winners from the Night Shift (USA) mare Lady of Laredo.
Scoring on debut in the very next race was the Tim Martin trained Stratum three year-old Hunter Jack, who was easy in the market, but charged home to win the 1250 metre maiden by a short head.
Retained to race by his breeder Reg Kemister after passing in at the 2011 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale, Hunter Jack is the second winner for Takeitasdye (USA), an American bred daughter of Aussie bred Group I winner Jungle Dawn.
