Four Straight for Golden Sunshine
Gosford – Brilliant Danzero filly Golden Sunshine resumed from a summer let-up to score a stylish victory at the ATC meeting at Gosford on Wednesday.
Being aimed towards Black Type events during the autumn, the Rick Worthington trained filly always looked well placed in this Benchmark 75 event for three year-olds and upwards with bookmakers sending her off as a short priced favourite.
Ridder by regular partner Peter Robl, Golden Sunshine surged through to lead and powered to the line to win the 1000 metre dash by a length over seasoned five year-old Agister.
“She’s still a bit soft and will find plenty of improvement so it was a good run,” said Worthington.
“We’ve been teaching her to settle and she’s obviously learned her lesson as Peter had to kick her along out of the gates, but it’s all with a view to the future and stretching her out a bit.”
Raced by her trainer and Mr and Mrs Ross Smyth-Kirk, Golden Sunshine has won all four starts to date over 1000 and 1100 metres since October 28 earning in excess of $184,000 and looks ready to tackle stronger company this campaign.
A $65,000 purchase for her trainer from the Widden draft at the 2011 Inglis Classic Yearling Sale, Golden Sunshine was bred by Grant Briscoe and is bred to go fast being the first winner from Cloudwing, a daughter of former brilliant stakes-winning filly Cloudlet from the family of Magic Millions winner Zephyrz and Group II winning sprinter Athelnoth.
Cloudwing has a colt foal by Stratum and is now in foal to Northern Meteor.
