Seventh Winner for Sebring

Wyong – The juvenile maiden at the ATC metropolitan meeting at Wyong on Wednesday was won by talented first starter Crimson Arow, a $190,000 Magic Millions purchase for Star Thoroughbreds.

The Gai Waterhouse trained daughter of Golden Slipper winner Sebring was well fancied following two handy barrier trial efforts and a good ride from Tommy Berry saw her collect the prize in the 1000 metre scamper.

A touch slow to jump, Crimson Arow mustered speed gradually before working to the front down the running, before holding off a challenge from Exceed and Excel colt Quartzite to win by half a neck.

“She’ll take good benefit from that and will be better over further as it took her quite a while to get travelling,” said stable representative Mark Newnham.

Tommy Berry was full of praise for the filly, who is the first winner by her sire to run in the purple and white Star Thoroughbreds colours that were carried to so many victories by Sebring.

“She’s a nice filly, although isn’t the typical Gai Waterhouse jump and run, so she has a lot of scope for improvement,” said Berry.

Crimson Arow is the second winner from Group III STC Sweet Embrace Stakes winner Burning Sands, who comes from the family of multiple Group II winner Skoozi Please.

She becomes the seventh winner for Widden Stud’s exciting young Sebring, who has two runners in the Group I MRC Blue Diamond Stakes this Saturday in Dissident and Kona Breeze.

The leading Australian first season sire by winners and leading Australian two year-old sire by winners, Sebring has a sizable draft of 18 for the 2013 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale next month.
