New Stakes-Winner for Snippetson
Melbourne – Placed in the Group I VRC Australian Guineas as a three year-old, talented Snippetson entire Mister Milton has always threatened to win a stakes race and did so at Flemington on Saturday when capturing the Listed VRC Straight Six.
Prepared by Norman Waymouth, Mister Milton has shown flashes of brilliance during his career to date and a close last start second indicated he was close to his top.
He delivered the goods for connections in no uncertain terms, forging clear to win the 1200 metre dash by more than a length with Damian Lane in the saddle.
“I came here today and said that he could not get beaten,” Waymouth said.
“There was no way in the world anything was going to beat him. He’s a lovely horse. He deserves this.
“He has never let me down. A lot of people have canned him saying he’s a gonna, but if you knew some of the problems he’s had and how he’s got to where he is, you’d know he’s done a magic job.”
A modest $7,500 purchase for his trainer from the North Road Bloodstock draft at the 2010 Inglis Autumn Yearling Sale, Mister Milton has the overall record of two wins and five placings from 24 starts with prizemoney nearing $300,000.
He is the first winner for Spinning World (USA) mare The Girlfriend, who traces back to US Group I winner Milingo.
Mister Milton is the sixth stakes-winner for Snippetson, who also had the third place-getter in the race in That’s The One and stands this spring at Widden Stud at the great value fee of $9,900.
