Impressive Debut Winner for Northern Meteor
An impressive debut winner for ill-fated sire Northern Meteor, Manhattan Rock looked a bright prospect for the future at the Kilmore meeting on Monday.
Prepared by Stephen Theodore, Manhattan Rock was driven forward to lead by Nathan Rose and after finding the front, controlled the race before skipping away down the running to take the 1457 metre maiden by three lengths.
Manhattan Rock was a $200,000 Magic Millions purchase for Cameron Cooke Bloodstock from the Rheinwood Pastoral draft and was the second highest priced colt by his sire at that sale.
He is the second winner for You’re Dreamin, a winning half-sister by Commands to stakes-winners Johnny Reb and Power of Pegasus.
You’re Dreamin has a yearling colt to follow by another young Widden Stud based sire in Star Witness.
Northern Meteor has 20 entries for the 2014 Magic Millions in January.
