Qatar Bloodstock Win With a Northern Meteor Filly
An emerging force in global bloodstock, Qatar Racing enjoyed success at Wangaratta on Monday when the Peter Moody trained Northern Meteor filly Shooting Sally won with the proverbial ‘leg in the air’.
Placed at her three previous runs before spelling, the talented filly was sent out a heavily backed favourite in the 1000 metre maiden and gave nothing else a chance when opening up to win by three lengths for Linda Meech.
A $100,000 Inglis Easter purchase for David Redvers from the Southern Cross Breeders draft, Shooting Sally is a half-sister to stakes-placed Wonderful You being from It Had to Be You, a full sister to Group I VRC Oaks winner Bulla Borghese.
Bred by Senga Bissett and Ivan Woodford-Smith of Ashleigh Thoroughbreds, Shooting Sally is a sister-in-blood to Group II ATC Furious Stakes winner Bound for Earth, who is also by Northern Meteor and is an acceptor for the Group I MRC Thousand Guineas at Caulfield on Wednesday.
Shooting Sally is the second winner from five fillies purchased from the 2012 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale by David Redvers on behalf of Qatar Bloodstock.
