Promising Debut Win for Zoustar Colt
The last Sydney metropolitan race of the season for two year-olds was run on Wednesday at Randwick with victory going to talented Zoustar colt Starman.
Trained by Chris Waller, who also prepared his sire, Starman was allowed to settle back in the field by James McDonald.
He unwound a powerful finish to charge past his rivals and win the 1100m maiden by more than a length in a dominant display.
“He was an expensive colt and is one of a number of nice young horses we have for Coolmore and their partners and it’s a privilege to have them in the stable,” said stable representative Damien Fitton.
“He will train on enormously from today so it should be onwards and upwards.”
A $500,000 Magic Millions purchase for Tom Magnier from the Bowness Stud draft, Starman is the sixth winner from six to race from good producer You’re Dreamin, a winning half-sister by Commands to stakes-winners Johnny Reb and Power of Pegasus.
Bred by Bowness Stud, Starman is the tenth Aussie juvenile winner this season for Zoustar, whose two year-olds include Group II winners Glistening and Lightsaber.
Zoustar stands at Widden Stud this spring at a fee of $154,000.
