Snippetson Starts Season With a Winner
Snippetson might not be the most high profile sire on the Widden roster, but he gets his share of winners including slick sprinter Day Procedure, who won at Moonee Valley on Saturday.
The Robert Smerdon trained four year-old led throughout and kicked clear to win the 1000 metre dash by a length and a quarter, his overall record now five wins and three placings from 14 starts with prizemoney in excess of $176,000.
Day Procedure was a great pinhook for Mark Baker of New Zealand based Hallmark Stud, who plucked the youngster for $35,000 from the Trevannah draft at the 2010 Magic Millions National Weanling Sale and then resold him under the Hallmark Stud banner for $170,000 at the 2011 NZB Select Yearling Sale to Aquanita Racing.
Day Procedure was the most expensive yearling sired by Snippetson sold in 2011 and is a half-brother to Group III winner Absolutelyfabulous being one of six winners from stakes-winning Rory’s Jester mare Joker’s Girl, a daughter of Group I winning sprinter Scarlet Bisque.
Snippetson had a great season in 2012/2013 with 87 Australian winners of $2.9 million in prizemoney led by stakes-winners Rebelson and Mister Milton.
He stands this spring at Widden Stud at a fee of$9,900.
