Northern Meteor Edges Ahead of Sebring
Northern Meteor edged ahead of his Widden Stud based barn mate Sebring on Thursday when posting his 17th Australian winner at Wyong.
The Gary Portelli trained Cosmic Cameo improved sharply at his second run back from a spell, powering clear to win the 1200 metre maiden by nearly three lengths in a dominant display.
A $50,000 Magic Millions purchase for Elite Thoroughbreds from the Widden Stud draft, Cosmic Cameo was bred by Gooree Stud and is a half-brother to stakes-winner Texan from the well-bred Marscay mare Jewelmer, who comes from the family of Group I winners Keltrice and Red Dazzler.
Northern Meteor is the leading Australian first season sire by earnings and winners with 18 to his credit (17 in Australia and one in Singapore).
The Group I winning son of Encosta de Lago stands at a fee of $27,500 and will be fully booked with a stellar selection of mares.
