Widden Sell a Pair of $1.3 million Colts on Day 1 Inglis Easter

Stakes-winning O’Reilly mare Bonny O’Reilly (NZ) delivered a Magic Millions sale-topper a few years ago for Widden Stud and she produced another million dollar yearling at Inglis Easter on Monday when her I Am Invincible colt sold for $1.3million to Yulong.

A half-brother to Group III placed Basquiat from a sister to the dam of recent Group I ATC Coolmore Classic winner Espiona, the star colt has the looks and pedigree to match.

Bonny O’Reilly was bought by Widden Stud and partners for $1.2million at the 2019 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale and her first three foals (all colts) have sold for an impressive $3.63million.

“We bought Bonny O’Reilly with some other partners and she was an expensive mare for us, but produces a lovely horse,” Antony Thompson said.

“I’m very grateful to Yulong, who have invested so much in Australia and they bought the Zoustar filly from Solar Charged filly from us earlier this year for $2.6million, so it’s great they’ve come back to us again.”

Bonny O’Reilly produced another Snitzel colt last spring and was then covered by I Am invincible.

Widden Stud’s champion sire Zoustar delivered the second yearling from the farm to sell for $1.3 million with the colt from Lady Jivago purchased by Hermitage Thoroughbreds and heading into the stable of Chris Waller, who trained his sire.

He is a full brother to smart winner Zamborghini from stakes-winning Beneteau mare Lady Jivago, who comes from the family of Group I winners King’s Legacy and Oohood as well as champion sire Not a Single Doubt.

The colt was the top seller of the session for Zoustar, whose highest priced filly was Kulani Park’s filly from Katresha that made $800,000 when bought by Strawberry Hill / Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott.
