Another Stakes Win for Texan

 In 2012

Perth – Progressive Stratum gelding Texan has been in brilliant form since the start of the season reeling off three successive wins culminating with a bold front running victory in the Listed WATC Birthday Stakes over 1200 metres at Belmont on Saturday.

Formerly trained by Gai Waterhouse, five year-old Texan has been flying since transferring to the West and has won five of his last seven starts for Lark Hill trainer Adam Durrant.

One of 13 stakes-winners for Golden Slipper winner Stratum, Texan has the overall record of nine wins and six placings from 19 starts and prizemoney in excess of $330,000.

Bred by Gooree Stud, Texan is the best of three winners from Marscay mare Jewelmer, who comes from the family of Group I winners and sires Keltrice and Red Dazzler.

Jewelmer has a two year-old colt by Northern Meteor called Cosmic Cameo and a yearling colt by Dreamscape.

Stratum had a winning double on the Belmont program with talented filly Darlington Abbey scoring a neck win in the 1000 metre open sprint for three year-olds, her fourth win from just six starts.
