Debut Winner Adds to Portland Sky Purple Patch
The only Group I winning son of Champion Hong Kong Sire Deep Field at stud, Portland Sky has had a productive start to the new season reeling off three new winners in the past week including a debut winner at the Sunshine Coast on Sunday.
Trained by Kelly Purdy and ridden by Ben Thompson, three year-old filly Sky Alice had two encouraging trials last month and improved again on race day to post her first win.
She powered up the inside and was tenacious to the line winning the 1200m maiden by a head.

A $100,000 Magic Millions purchase from Telemon Thoroughbreds for Livistona Grazing Company, Sky Alice is a half-sister to stakes-placed Duchess Zou and is the fourth winner from five foals to race from Group III placed Snitzel mare Miss Wonderland.
Miss Wonderland has been a regular visitor to Widden and has a yearling filly by Zousain and was covered last spring by Zoustar.
Sky Alice is the third winner in the past week for Portland Sky joining Skystone, who won at Kembla on Saturday for the O’Shea Charlton stable and Restless Spirit.
Now the sire of six first crop winners, Portland Sky stands at a fee of $8,800 this spring at Widden NSW.
