Teofilo’s dual Group I winning son Palentino is on the Widden Stud Victoria roster for this spring and is off the mark with his first winner after Palencia scored a resounding debut victory on Thursday.

Sent out a short priced favourite for the 1200m juvenile maiden at Townsville, the Roy Chillemi trained gelding was in a class of his own galloping clear to win by more than four lengths.

Bred by Goldstar Thoroughbreds, he is the fifth winner from good producer Dynamic Lass, a half-sister by Redoute’s Choice to the dam of recent Group III ATC PJ Bell Stakes winner Matchmaker.

Palencia is just the fourth runner for Palentino, who has been s upper popular with Victorian breeders covering over 550 mares in his first four seasons.

He stands at Widden Stud Victoria this spring at a fee of $11,000.
