Group Two Triumph for Zoustar

 In 2013

Brisbane – The Northern Meteor wave of success rolled into Brisbane on Saturday with unbeaten colt Zoustar maintaining his perfect record to win the Group II BRC Sires Produce Stakes, while another Northern Meteor filly in Bound for Earth finished third.

Prepared by Chris Waller, Zoustar had looked well above average in his previous two Sydney wins at Canterbury and Hawkesbury so a good showing was always expected in this tougher assignment.

A dual acceptor on Saturday in Sydney and Brisbane, Waller elected to go north with Zoustar to avoid a wet track at Randwick with happy results all round.

He travelled smoothly for Jim Cassidy and powered to the line along the fence to score a stylish victory over his stablemate Vilanova, with Bound for Earth third.

“He’s a nice colt that won impressively in Sydney and took the next step today,” said Cassidy.

“He pulled up well and is a colt really going somewhere.

“These Northern Meteors just keep getting better.”

It will now be full steam ahead for Zoustar towards the Group I BRC JJ Atkins Stakes on June 8.

Bred by Racetree, Zoustar was a $140,000 Magic Millions purchase for Iskander Racing from the Kulani Park draft and has won each of his three starts to date banking in excess of $260,000 in prizemoney

Zoustar is the first winner for Zou Zou, a winning half-sister by Redoute’s Choice to stakes-placed Crestfallen and to the dam of Group II winner Dusty Star.

Zouzou went back to Northern Meteor in 2011 and produced a full sister to Zoustar last spring.

Zoustar is the second stakes-winner for record breaking Group I winner Northern Meteor and is one of seven stakes performers for the exciting young sire, whose fee for 2013 has been set at $27,500.
