Widden Stud’s young sire Portland Sky added a new winner to his tally when Sambuca Sky scored an easy victory at Scone on Sunday.

Trained by Nathan Doylle and ridden by Ash Morgan, Sambuca Sky was first up from a spell in the 900m juvenile contest following a third placing on debut at the same track back in January.

She made light of the heavy ground to skip away and win by two and a half lengths.

A $12,500 Inglis Classic purchase for JJJ Racing from Widden Stud, Sambuca Sky is the third winner from four foals to race from Fancy Liquor, a placed half-sister by Not a Single Doubt to stakes-winner Office Bearer.

Fancy Liquor is due to foal to another of the young Widden sires in Jacquinot this spring.

Sambuca Sky is the third winner for Portland Sky, a G1 winning son of Deep Field, priced affordably at $8,800 this spring.
