Inglis Digital Sale-Topper Headed to Widden

Inglis Digital July (Late) sale-topper Arctic Glamour is set for a date with Zoustar this spring after selling to Julia Ritchie and Widden Stud for $640,000 this week.

Offered by trainers Gerald Ryan and Sterling Alexiou, Arctic Glamour was a top class Group II winning mare that placed at G1 level and retired with earnings in excess of $1m.

Ritchie said she was first alerted to Arctic Glamour’s sale when she logged into her computer on Saturday morning.

“I received the ad that your marketing team sent out and she piqued my interest straight away and I thought that she’s a mare I need to look at and within 24 hours [Widden Stud boss] Antony [Thompson] messaged me asking if I had looked into her, so great minds think alike,’’ Ritchie said.

“Today it was touch and go, we were terrified who we might be up against and we really only had $600,000 for her. We held the bid at that amount and then with 10 seconds to go another bid came through at $620,000 so we decided to have one more bid but we were out if the other party went again but thankfully they didn’t.

“Zoustar will be a great match for her. You watch her race history and she’s got an engine in there, she’s been very competitive at G1 level which is what you like to see and I think she’ll make a beautiful broodmare.’’
