Promising Zousain Filly Scores at Flemington

The highest priced filly by Zousain sold in 2024 when snapped up by astute trainer Mitch Freedman for $230,000 from the Rosemont draft at Magic Millions, Salizou is starting to pay back that purchase price with a Flemington victory on Saturday.

Handled patiently, Salizou made a winning debut at Stawell last December before heading for a spell and went to Flemington off a last start win at Ballarat in a Class 1.

Up in class and distance, Salizou produced a brilliant turn of foot to dive between runners for Jye McNeil, surging to the line to win by more than a length at 20-1 beating a very smart field of fillies.

 

 

 

Salizou has three wins from four starts and prizemoney topping $120,000 with the promise of more to come.

Salizou is the first winner for Satyricon, a winning Charge Forward daughter of stakes-winner Zelsnitz, who comes from the famipoy of Group I winners Holy Roman Emperor and Sherwood Forest tracing all the way back to celebrated bleu hen Fanfreluche, via the L’On Vite branch of the family.

Satyricon is due to foal to Rosemont Stud’s exciting young G1 winning Zoustar stallion Schwarz this spring.

Zousain is the leading third crop sire this season by winners ahead of Too Darn Hot (GB) and stands at Widden NSW at the affordable a fee of $22,000.
