Written By 3YO Wins G3 Up and Coming
The $250,000 Group III ATC Up and Coming Stakes (1300m) at Rosehill on Saturday was a race well named as it turned out with up and comers filling the trifecta and it was the Waterhouse Bott trained Written By gelding Plagiarism leading the way.
A maiden going into this race, albeit with some good form in competitive stakes races, Plagiarism was lit up from the gates by Regan Bayliss to lead at his second run back from a spell and it proved a winning move.
The first three around the turn were the first three at the post with Plagiarism kicking hard to win by three-quarters of a length over Genesis Runner (Gun Runner) with Hostwin King (Kingโs Legacy) in third.
The race favourite Savagram, a stablemate of the winner, was a brave fourth and will have lost few admirers given his potential to step out in trip being by Savabeel.

“He’s a horse that’s always shown so much natural brilliance and speed and wanted to see him be able to utilise that today and Regan led with him and he executed it perfectly,” Bott said.
“He was a great effort there first-up carrying the big weight and he’s obviously taken great improvement off that.”
A $120,000 Inglis Premier purchase for Redfox Racing from Widden Stud, Plagiarism has a win and two placings from six starts earning him more than $280,000 and he holds an entry for the Group I ATC Golden Rose (1400m) on September 26.
โWe originally had him going through a potential Ming Dynasty (G3 1400m)path. We’ll just see how he comes through this and whether we sort of look to aim up and everything’s on the table at present,โ Bott added.
Bred by Widden in partnership, Plagiarism is the second foal and first winner for well bred Snitzel mare Profiterole, a winning sister to stakes-winner Nomothaj from Group III winner Real Stolle with the family producing Group I winners Warning and Mariamia.
Profiterole has a yearling colt by Jacquinot and is due to foal again to Written By.
Plagiarism is the seventh stakes-winner for Written By and is bred on a magic nick for the champion son of Written Tycoon.
Written By has sired 11 winners from 17 runners out of Snitzel mares and four of those winners are stakes-winners with another stakes-placed so the SW to runner strike rates is 23.5%!
Written By stands at Widden NSW at a fee of $22,000.
