Widden Stud’s Zousain had a big result at Magic Millions National on Tuesday when his three year-old filly Bellazaine sold for $900,000 as a breeding proposition and on Wednesday young Zousain mare Amelita was also in demand fetching $800,000 in foal to Ole Kirk.

Amelita was purchased as a yearling at Magic Millions back in 2023 by Magic Bloodstock/Noel & Maria Greenhalgh/Julia Ritchie/Neil Werrett for $280,000 and enjoyed success on the track for her big ownership group under the care of Chris Waller.

She retired lightly raced with two wins and two placings from just 11 starts with a career highlight win in the Group III VRC Red Roses Stakes and prizemoney topping $320,000.

She was offered in foal to Ole Kirk with a December 3 service date and successful purchaser Steve Morley Bloodstock/Glenlogan Park believes he found value for money.

“She was a beautiful type. Absolutely magnificent. The fact that she was a G3 winner with those great genetics and is a granddaughter of one of the most talented horses we’ve seen, Amelia’s Dream,” he said.

“Had she come through yesterday as a dry mare, she would have made more than a million dollars so there was a good opportunity and I think the late cover helped us.

“Ole Kirk has done a terrific job and he’s an exciting stallion going forward and we hope she can have a nice foal that can head towards a later sale, probably.

“She’s easy to mate. We ourselves own a share in Extreme Choice and even if you look at a December cover with something like that, that is an option as well.”

When you consider the value of Group winning fillies such as Bellazaine and Amelita, it’s hard to go past their sire Zousain for a value option this spring with his fee at Widden Stud set at $22,000.
