13th Winner for Sebring
Sydney – Another Wednesday and another chapter in the riveting first season sires battle between Sebring and Northern Meteor, with the Golden Slipper winner siring an impressive debut winner at Canterbury in Pitcrew.
Prepared by Gai Waterhouse, two year-old gelding Pitcrew looked good in a recent barrier trial win and ran right up to that effort in leading throughout to win the 1250 metre restricted juvenile event by more than two lengths.
“He came through that last trial well and has really trained on since then,” said stable representative Mark Newnham, who agreed with TVN host Richard Callander that there would be more wins in store for the flashy chestnut.
A $360,000 Magic Millions purchase for Gai Waterhouse and James Harron Bloodstock from the draft of Widden Stud, Pitcrew is a half-brother to Group I winner Absolut Glam and stakes-winner Nobby Snip being one of six winners from Pine Away (USA), who has not had a foal since.
Pitcrew has always been an eye-catching individual and was one of the first foals by Sebring that was paraded at the annual Widden Stud open days in 2010.
