$525,000 Zoustar Filly Tops Perth Magic Millions
The Perth Magic Millions Yearling Sale kicked off on Thursday and it didn’t take long for the sale ring to light up with Lot 25, the half-sister by Zoustar to G1 Blue Diamond contender Chayan selling for $525,000.
Consigned by Ridgeport Holdings, the athletic bay filly ended up topping the sale and always looked a standout on pedigree.
She was duly snapped up by astute Victorian bloodstock agent Sheamus Mills.
“She’s a medium sized, athletic filly – just the style I like, particularly by the stallion,” Mills said.
“She stands over plenty of ground.
“I really loved her demeanour. I saw her the morning I got to the complex and then checked her again as my last inspection before I left, when they were virtually packing up.
“She’d had a heap of parades, probably done 100 laps of the complex and she was asleep in the box. But when she came out she took off and paraded so well and that sealed the deal.”
Mills said the active pedigree was an extra incentive to get involved.
“The pedigree certainly helps as well. She’s by a gun stallion and the two-year-old from the mare was very good on debut.
“I’m not sure she (Chayan) can win the Blue Diamond, but she was a good second and it’s an endorsement that the mare can get a good one,” Mills added.
She is the fifth foal of Group III winning Snitzel mare Lubiton, a grand-daughter of Group I STC Coolmore Classic winner Camino Rose.
The first three foals from Lubiton all came out and won, while her fourth is I Am Invincible filly Chayan, who was a fast finishing second on debut two weeks ago in the Group II MRC Blue Diamond Prelude won by Streisand.
The Rob and Annabel Archibald trained filly has accepted for the Blue Diamond with Lachlan Neindorf sticking with Chayan, who has drawn out in 15.
The sale of the Zoustar filly, who was foaled at Yarraman Park, is a great result for her breeder Santo Guagliardo of Ridgeport Holdings as they purchased Lubiton for $400,000 from the 2024 Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale.
Lubiton was in foal to Zoustar with the resulting filly recouping the investment and then some at the Swan Valley sales complex today.
