$600,000 for Zoustar Filly

Zoustar produced the highest priced filly during the opening session of the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale on Sunday.

Outstanding broodmare Humma Mumma had two of her progeny in the placings at Flemington on Saturday with Tycoon Humma winning the Listed race for 2YO’s and Humma Humma finishing third in the Listed VRC Bob Hoysted Handicap, so it was no surprise to anyone when her Zoustar filly sold for $600,000.

Consigned by Flinders Park Stud, as were her two famous older sisters, the filly was bought by Redgum Racing, who also bought her stakes-winning sisters at previous Premier sales.

Redgum Racing have bought all five previous yearlings from Humma Mumma that have been sold to date and all have raced, with four winning.

Two year-old Tycoon Humma (Capitalist)has won each of her two starts to date banking over $100,000 in prizemoney, while multiple stakes-winner Humma Humma (Denman) has won over $600,000, so you can see why their trainer John McArdle and his Redgum Racing team keep going back to the well!

“This filly, she’s just spectacular. I saw her as a foal, I saw her on the farm, I saw her a fair few times here this past week, it was probably the worst kept secret in the world that I wanted to buy her and I’m more than happy to secure her now and get her home,”  said John McArdle.

Flinders Park’s Mick Cumming added: “We were expecting a fair bit of money for her, many leading judges had told me she was a half-million dollar filly so to get $600,000, it’s a fantastic result.

“She was so popular, she was legitimately out 40 times per day, every day, since she’s been here, we had over 30 X-Ray hits on her and generally you’re happy if you’re getting half a dozen X-Ray hits on a horse.

“I’ve been coming to this sale for 30 years and it’s definitely changed regarding the quality of horse flesh that comes here, there’s a lot of nice horses here and once word gets out that there’s a lot of nice horses at a sale, everyone wants to attend and it certainly has been that case here this week.’’
