$750,000 Magic Colt for Star Witness

Exciting young sire Star Witness is the leading second season sire in the country by winners and set a new benchmark in the sale ring at Magic Millions on Thursday when his stunning colt from Hilton Head sold for $750,000.

Consigned for sale by Widden Stud, the powerhouse chestnut is the second foal of Fastnet Rock mare Hilton Head, a half-sister to Group II placed Straight Gold and daughter of Group III winner Golden Delicious.

He was bought by Magic Millions as agent for Alan Bell, who bought his three-quarter brother Star Turn (Star Witness x Golden Delicious) at this sale last year for $400,000.

Prepared by Hawkes Racing, who will also train this new acquisition, Star Turn looked a star in the making when winning the $150,000 Pierro Plate brilliantly at Randwick back in October.

Connections elected to bypass the Magic Millions 2YO Classic in favour of a Golden Slipper preparation for Star Turn, so will be hoping he can follow in the footsteps of other recent Magic Millions graduates Vancouver and Pierro that also bypassed the Gold Coast in favour of the Slipper with happy results.
