Debut Stakes-Winner for Sebring

Golden Slipper winner Sebring posted a debut stakes-winner at Flemington on Saturday when the Peter Moody trained filly Bring Me the Maid scored a thrilling last stride win in the Listed VRC Sports 1000 Stakes.

She surged home from back in the field for Chad Schofield to snatch a short half head win in the 1000 metres scamper.

“She’s always shown nice ability at home, she trialled good at Caulfield the other morning,” Moody said.

Bring Me The Maid was a $105,000 Magic Millions purchase from the draft of Fig Tree Thoroughbreds where she was purchased by Roy Higgins and Wylie Dalziel Racing.

“Hopefully it’s a good tonic for Roy who is not in the best of condition at the moment, and thankfully Roy, Wylie and myself were smart enough to buy the sister to Bring Me The Maid (for $110,000) this year as well,” Moody said.

Bred by Murray Murdoch of Fig Tree Thoroughbreds, Bring Me the Maid is the best of three winners from Maid for Me, a half-sister to stakes-placed Patou, the dam of Golden Slipper winner Polar Success.

Maid for Me has been a regular visitor to Sebring and has another yearling filly to follow and a colt born last spring.

Bring Me the Maid is the fifth stakes-winner for Sebring, who has 25 entries for the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale starting this Sunday. Click here to see them.
