New French Stakes-winner for Zoustar
Drawing ever closer to the considerable milestone of 200 Australian winners in a season, Widden Stud’s champion sire Zoustar featured overnight in France producing a new stakes-winner when Mgheera took out the Listed Prix Hampton (1000m) at Chantilly.
Trained by Manon Scandella-Lacaille, four year-old mare Mgheera had been racing consistently this year racking up a number of Group and Listed placings so was well overdue for a win.
She produced a nice change of foot down the middle of the track to win by more than two lengths running away.

Mgheera made €145,000 when offered at the Arqana Deauville October Yearling Sale and raced initially for Al Shaqab Racing placing in two of her first three starts before being sold again to her current owners at the 2023 Arqana Summer Mixed Sale.
Mgheera has the overall record of four wins with four Group and Listed placings and is the best of two winners from Blue Aegean, a winning half-sister by Invincible Spirit to Group III winner Distinctive.
Mgheera is the 56th stakes-winner for Zoustar, who shuttled to Tweenhills Stud for five seasons and stands at Widden this spring at a fee of $275,000.
