Group Two Winner for Lucky Owners
Last seen finishing third in the Group I VRC Victoria Derby to Polanski, progressive three year-old Thunder Fantasy resumed from a spell to score a dominant win in the Group II MRC Autumn Stakes over 1400 metres at Caulfield on Saturday.
The Anthony Cummings trained son of Lucky Owners jumped smartly for Mark Zahra and tracked the leaders in third place before forging clear of race favourite Rock Hero to win by a length and three-quarters.
“We were pretty confident coming in today as he’s been quite sharp over the shorter distances,” said stable representative Dan Williams.
“We’re really happy with the way he did it today, it was a terrific effort.”
Retained to race by his breeder, Thunder Fantasy has the overall record of three wins from eight starts with prizemoney of $295,150 and will now chase further riches in the Group I VRC Australian Guineas and possibly the Australian Cup.
Foaled and raised at Widden Stud, Thunder Fantasy is the first foal of winning Galileo (IRE) mare Pink Pier, a half-sister to stakes-placed Benarrivo from the family of Group III winning fillies Bliss Street and Jade Marauder.
Bred on a very successful nick between Danehill and Galileo, Thunder Fantasy is the fifth stakes-winner for former Champion HK Miler Lucky Owners, who stands at Widden on a fee on application basis.
