Bugatty a Brilliant Winner for Dreamscape

Exciting two year-old Bugatty provided our young sire Dreamscape with his second winner when he scored a dashing victory at Flemington Saturday.

Prepared by Hawkes Racing, the handsome chestnut was a good second to well-regarded colt Chivalry on debut and took plenty of improvement out of the run.

Stripping fitter and wiser for the experience he travelled sweetly in second place for Glen Boss before forging clear to take the 1000 metre sprint by a length.

“He’s got a great attitude. He’s not the biggest horse, but what there is, is all quality,” Boss said.

“I’d suggest the first two horses might be very good. He (Ducal Castle) came up to me as if it was going to go past me, but I had a good feel.”

Bugatty is entered for next month’s Group I MRC Blue Diamond Stakes, but Boss believes the future will be bright beyond that for the talented colt.

“He’s got quality to say he’s going to be a Group horse. I don’t know what level, but he’s definitely Group class,” he said.

Bugatty is a horse that has carried quite a reputation since he recorded the fastest ever breeze up at the Gold Coast prior to being sold at the Magic Millions Horses in Training Sale.

His 200 metre gallop in 9.85 seconds caught the eye of all the good judges and he topped the sale for Glenlogan Park when bought by Hawkes Racing for $310,000 on behalf of a partnership of mostly Queensland based owners.

Bugatty is the second winner for Rory’s Jester mare Jesta Sweetie, a grand-daughter of stakes-winner Sober Dancer from the family of stakes-winner Blizzardly, the dam of this season’s brilliant stakes-winning two year-old Unencumbered.

Bugatty is the second winner for Group II winning sprinter Choisir sprinter Dreamscape, who covered 78 mares last spring at a fee of $5,500.

He has two yearlings in the upcoming Inglis Classic Yearling Sale starting on Sunday week.
