Second Stakes Success for Stratum Star
A last start stakes-winner at Flemington, progressive three year-old Stratum Star added another Black Type win to the resume at Caulfield on Saturday when scoring a narrow victory in the Listed MRC Crown Lager Stakes.
The Darren Weir trained gelding has really hit his stride after showing good form at the provincials and after powering to the front after turning for home was able to tough it out and win the 1400 metre contest by half a neck.
“He has kept stepping up, I loved the way he travelled today. I can’t wait until he gets out to a mile and a quarter,” said winning rider Brad Rawiller.

Stratum Star has the overall record of three wins and two placings from nine starts with prizemoney topping $164,000.
Bred and offered for sale by Widden Stud, Stratum Star is the first foal of Pins mare Purely Spectacular, a full sister to stakes-winner Raid from the family of champion mare Emancipation.
Purely Spectacular has a two year-old filly and yearling filly by Star Witness and is due to foal again to the young Widden Stud based sire.
Stratum Star is one of 24 stakes-winners for Stratum, who stands at a fee of $38,500.
