Strong Winner for Stratum
Stratum might be seen as a source of speedy performers, but he does have more than one string to his bow and he showed it at the metropolitan meeting at Mornington on Wednesday when progressive four year-old mare On Tour scored a dominant win over 2000 metres.
Trained on the track by Robert Kingston, On Tour was up on the pace throughout befiore surging clear in the run to the line to take the Ratings 78 event by two and three-quarter lengths.
It was the third win from just 11 starts for On Tour, who was purchased for $170,000 from the Fairview Park draft at the 2009 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.
On Tour is a half-sister to stakes-winner Shalimar Sky and stakes-placed Sir Xaar being one of six winners from good producer Chancy Dancer.
Stratum is closing in on a century of winners for the season with 98 winners of $5.3 million in prizemoney.
